1:48 M4A4 / Sherman V Hull Conversion Set
Designed for use with a Tamiya M4, M4A1 or Sherman Ic kit
First production castings. Here is the hull top, with full engine deck details, open hatches and periscope locations. Tamiya turret, hatches, tools and other details fit directly.
Here is the hull top, from the rear quarter. Handles, filler covers all cast integrally. Tool locations are not marked, so variations can be easily made without requiring cleanup of unused marks.
Here is the hull lower section with integral 3-piece transmission castings. Sprocket, idler and bogie locations all accept the standard Tamiya components without modification. Sponsons are closed in, improving the appearance of the model, as well as providing a strong assembled hull.
Here is the hull under side, showing details of the various belly hatches, and the hull rear with grille recess and locations for the exhausts.
Smaller resin parts include extra track sections to allow for the longer hull of the M4A4. These are used in conjunction with the kit track parts. We are working on alternate track types suitable for British/Commonwealth M4 tanks. Details of new Fighting 48th items will be announced on this web site, so please visit often!
The photo etched parts include track skids, mud guards and mounting ribs, brush guards, smoke grenade boxes, periscope guards, exhaust deflector, handles, grille and other smaller details.
Illustrated instructions are provided showing the locations of all the components, and detailing the modifications required for the Tamiya kit. For a Firefly variant use Tamiya kit MM32532, Firefly IC. For a standard Sherman V, the Tamiya M4A1 kit has most of the tools moulded separately, so we would recommend that kit instead of the M4, which has some of its tools moulded on the hull. The instructions also include a list of books, magazine articles and web links for further reading.
Available now, this kit includes a new resin hull top and bottom, track extensions, tow hook, exhausts, lifting eyes and several other components. Photo etchings are included for the front mud guards and mounting strips, light brush guards, bogie skids, periscope guards and other smaller items.
